Singapore RWS Blackjack — Rules, House Edge & Strategy
Singapore Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) offers a uniquely restrictive standard blackjack: 6 decks S17 with No Hole Card (ENHC), Early Surrender on 10 up-card only, Double restricted to 9-11, DAS allowed, but max 1 split (2 hands total). Among mainstream Asian preset, RWS is the most house-favorable; many high-roller rooms in the region copy this ruleset.

What is Singapore RWS Blackjack?
Resorts World Sentosa's standard pit uses a hybrid of European No-Hole-Card with an Asia-specific Early Surrender twist — you can ES only on dealer 10 up-card (not Ace, which is the European default). Splits are also unusually capped at 1 (so AA can be split once but no further), reducing card-counter and basic-strategy EV. The ruleset is offered across major Singapore / Manila / Macau casinos as a high-volume mass table preset.
Key rule features
- 6 decks (312 cards) — standard Asian high-volume shoe.
- No Hole Card (ENHC) — dealer doesn't take a 2nd card until all players act. Doubles and splits made before this point lose the full extra stake if the dealer draws blackjack.
- Early Surrender on dealer 10 only — uniquely Asian variant. Reduces hard 14/15/16 EV loss against the most common dealer up-card, but Ace cases still play out fully.
- Double restricted to hard 9, 10, or 11 — no soft doubles, no double on 8.
- Max 1 split (2 hands) — significantly reduces EV from split-heavy pair scenarios (2-2 / 3-3 / 7-7 etc.).
Strategy adjustments
Standard 6-deck S17 basic strategy with RWS-specific tweaks:
- Early-surrender hard 14, 15, 16 vs dealer 10 — RWS uniquely allows ES on 10 up-card, take it on these losing totals.
- Hit hard 15/16 vs dealer A — no ES on Ace, dealer's BJ probability under ENHC is higher than full peek.
- Don't double soft hands — RWS restricts double to 9/10/11 hard, all soft-double rows are off the menu.
- Be conservative on doubles and splits vs dealer 10 / A — ENHC means dealer BJ takes your full doubled/split stake, not just the original wager.
House edge
RWS's house edge is higher than European Standard because of the max-1-split cap and double-9-11 restriction, despite gaining S17. The split cap costs roughly 0.10 pt and the double restriction another ~0.13 pt — Early-Surrender-10 partially offsets but only on dealer 10 cases. Use the embedded solver above for exact action EV per hand. For mass tables in Singapore / Manila, RWS sets the de facto standard; high-limit rooms sometimes upgrade to Vegas Strip H17 / Macau Standard.
